New Delhi: Union Minister Jitendra Singh introduced a special type of lotus flower named "Namoh 108," developed by the National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI). This unique flower has 108 petals and blooms from March to December. It's packed with nutrients and stands out because its genetic makeup is fully understood. The Minister praised the NBRI for naming the flower "Namoh 108," linking it to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dedicated leadership. He highlighted the significance of the lotus flower in culture and the special number 108. This combination makes the flower remarkable.

The NBRI, based in Lucknow, is a leading center for plant research. The Minister also introduced clothing made from lotus fibers and a fragrance called 'Frotus' derived from lotus flowers, both developed by the NBRI in collaboration with the Fragrance and Flavour Development Centre, Kannauj. The Minister also inaugurated the Lotus Mission, which focuses on fostering lotus cultivation and use. This project, aligned with other essential initiatives, shows the government's commitment to meaningful schemes.

During the event, the Minister unveiled herbal colors made from temple flower offerings, which can be used for dyeing fabrics. He also introduced a new type of Aloe vera called 'NBRI-Nihar,' known for producing more gel than regular Aloe vera.
