On Friday, the central government approved the necessary land-use changes for the construction of a new parliament building and a central secretariat. The new parliament building will be built on 9 and a half acres of land. In the proposal sent by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for Land Related Change (CLU), a provision has been made to retain the existing green area.

The major buildings of Central Vista, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Parliament House, North and South Block, India Gate, National Archives are constructed before 1931. The buildings of various ministries for the Central Secretariat have been done randomly on vacant plots as per the requirement. The Parliament House building was built in the year 1927, which will now be declared a heritage building.

Due to less space in the existing building, the parliamentary requirements are not being met. The buildings of the proposed Common Central Secretariat will be built together, which will be equipped with all the latest facilities. To further enhance the beauty of Rajpath, green strips and artificial canals of water will be made more beautiful. The new Parliament building will be built on 9 and a half acres of land in front of the existing Parliament House. It will have Red Cross Road at the northern end of the boundary, Raisina Road to the south and Parliament House to the west. While the second plot is of the existing Shastri Bhawan, where a government office will be built on 5.88 acres. No building in Central Vista will be taller than India Gate.
