The new Law of ICC stated that: "it is unfair for any fielder insubordinately to attempt, by word or action, to divert, mislead or get in the way either batsman after the striker has received the ball". If the umpires on the field decide that such dishonesty is calculated, they can award five penalty runs to the batting team. Its indirectly pointing out MS Dhoni who have some tricky way to make the batsmen distracted which seems to be a trick but various people sort out him as cheating, when Mahendra Singh Dhoni would trick opponents by make-believe to collect a throw and letting it go on to hit the stumps, His move was really excellent but now it will cause him and team as well. The move, hailed by cricket expert all over the world, can now get Dhoni penalised under the "fake fielding" law, which was newly instituted by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The new change which came into effect on 28th September 2017 claimed its first prey within 24 hours of its introduction when Queensland fielder Marnus Labuschagne was found "guilty" of trying to fool the batsman by faking a throw during a JLT One-Day Cup (domestic limited overs tournament of Australia) match. While trickery is a vital part of the game and cricketers around the world struggle to develop ways to outsmart their equivalent, the law is bound to give a hard time to on-field umpires to interpret what is "conscious" and what is "deception".
