Microsoft Unveils New Outlook App as Default Mailbox for Windows 11 Devices

New Delhi: In a major announcement, Microsoft revealed that starting in 2024, all new Windows 11 devices will come preloaded with the highly-anticipated AI-enabled Outlook app, which will replace the current Mail, Calendar, and People apps.

According to a recent blog post by Microsoft, the new Outlook for Windows will be the default mailbox application, available for free to all users of Windows 11 devices. However, the Mail and Calendar applications will still be downloadable from the Microsoft Store until the end of 2024.

For existing devices, users will have the option to switch to the new Outlook for Windows by toggling a switch within the Mail and Calendar applications.

Furthermore, Microsoft emphasized that the new Outlook app will revolutionize the way users compose emails. With advanced AI integration, it will empower users to craft impactful, error-free messages, ensuring greater clarity and effectiveness. Additionally, the new Outlook for Windows will offer reminders to follow up on important conversations. Users can experience a preview of the new Outlook app by simply sliding the "Try the new Outlook" toggle located in the upper-right corner of their Mail and Calendar or classic Outlook for Windows applications, and then following the onscreen instructions.

In other news, Microsoft is rolling out Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 23481 to the Dev Channel, introducing modernized Window Ink. This update will enable users to directly enable inking on edit fields, as announced in a blog post by the tech giant.
