A new maneuver has been tried by the accused in the Nirbhaya case to escape the execution. Now the four accused will file a curative petition in the Supreme Court before filing a mercy petition with the President. Responding to the notice of the Tihar jail administration, Nirbhaya case convicts said on behalf of the convicts that they decided to file a curative petition in the Supreme Court before filing a mercy petition with the President.

After hearing the plea of guilty Akshay in the Supreme Court on December 18, Nirbhaya's mother's plea was heard in the Patiala House Trial Court in Delhi. The Tihar jail administration issued notice to the 4 convicts on Wednesday in which they are being given 7 days to file a mercy petition with the President.

This notice has been issued under Delhi Jail Rule 837, in which the convicts get 7 days' time after getting the notice to file the mercy petition with the President. In the meantime, if the mercy petition is not filed, the jail administration is free to take further action against the culprits. The next hearing in the trial court will be on 7 January. The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed the review petition of one of the accused in the case, Akshay, although the Supreme Court has already dismissed the review petition of the other 3 convicts. In this way, the revision petition of the four convicts has been dismissed in the Supreme Court. The mercy petition in the name of a convict Vinay is pending with the President for the final decision.
