Famous director Nishikant Kamat has died. His condition was critical for some time. He was admitted to the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology in Hyderabad. It was being told that Nishikant has been kept in ICU and his condition is critical but stable.

Actor Ajay Devgn has mourned the death of Nishikant Kamat. He acted in the film Dishyam under his direction. For a few days, news of Nishikant's death was coming out, due to which actor Riteish Deshmukh and director Milap Zaveri had tweeted that he is alive and in critical condition. However, now he has said goodbye to the world.

A press statement was issued regarding the health of Nishikant Kamat when he was admitted to the hospital. It was told in this statement that Nishikant was brought to AIG Hospital on 31 July. A team of senior doctors was formed to take care of him, who was constantly monitoring his health. This team also included many Gastroenterologists, Hepatologists. However, the condition of the famous director was stated to be critical at this time. Nishikant had been both an actor and a director. He played the role of Villain in John Abraham's movie Rocky Handsome and was highly praised for his performance in this movie. Apart from this, he also worked with Anil Kapoor's son Harshvardhan Kapoor in the movie Bhavesh Joshi: Superhero.

My equation with Nishikant was not just about Drishyam, a film which he directed with Tabu and me. It was an association that I cherished. He was bright; ever-smiling. He has gone too soon.
