NEW DELHI: On Thursday, Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, met with Basavaraj Bommai, the chief minister of Karnataka, to discuss the difficulties surrounding the city's traffic congestion challenges.

According to officials, the two ministers discussed the concepts proposed by expert organizations. In addition to promising the state complete cooperation from the Union Ministry, Gadkari instructed the state officials to make ideas about the needs and tasks linked to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). To alleviate traffic problems, he also advised looking at options for building bus ports, inter-modal stations, and parking lots.

Minister of State VK Singh, State Transport Minister B Sriramulu among others were also present at the meeting.

Inaugurating the two-day National Conference "MANTHAN - Idea to Action" earlier in the day, Gadkari emphasized the importance of all stakeholders understanding one another's concerns and focusing on developing innovative policies to ensure that all transportation in the nation runs on fuel produced in India. He focused on the innovative ideas and quality input that would make India the most advanced nation.

India to reach a five trillion dollar economy, the minister emphasized the significance of an integrated strategy with multi-modal transportation at its centre.  He said with 70 percent of goods traffic used roads, and 90 percent of the passenger traffic there was a need for an integrated approach where waterways, railways and airports were interlinked, and logistics parks would play a significant role. If the state governments provide land, the Ministry of Road Transport will facilitate the construction of logistics parks.
