Umpire Nitin Menon to Make Test Debut in Afghanistan-West Indies Match

New Delhi: Test match will be played between Afghanistan and West Indies on 27 November. With this match, India's Nitin Menon will begin his umpiring career in Test cricket. The match will be played in Dehradun. Nitin, son of former international umpire Narendra Menon, became the umpire of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association's state panel in 2005. Having represented Madhya Pradesh in Under 16, Under 19, Under 23 and List A matches, Nitin passed the BCCI All India Umpiring Test in 2006 and has been officiating in domestic matches since the 2007-08 season.

In addition to 57 first-class matches, he has been an umpire in 22 ODIs, nine T20s and 40 IPL matches. Menon aims to join the ICC Elite Panel. He thanked the BCCI for the journey so far. Talking to BCCI, Menon said, 'The main reason for reaching international cricket is the professional, elaborate and competitive BCCI domestic matches.

Menon has thanked the BCCI for its appointment. Menon said that the umpire exchange program helped him progress as a match official. He further said that the experience gained from umpiring in our domestic tournament and the BCCI's visit to Australia, England, and South Africa under the IPL and Umpire Exchange program enhanced my understanding as an umpire.
