New Delhi: Adopting a policy of zero-tolerance against corruption, the Nitish government of Bihar has dismissed 85 policemen from the service against whom departmental action was continuing to indulge in corruption. Nitish Kumar government has also issued a government notification regarding this.
In this notification of the Nitish government, it has been told how the 85 policemen who were found to have evidence the violation of liquor detention law, corruption in sand mining and extortion in a land dispute, on the basis of which all these have been dismissed from service. Nitish government has also taken strict action against 644 other policemen, who were accused of negligence in service. In the notification, the state government said, 'Bihar government, adopting the policy of zero tolerance, till November has lapsed into the implementation of the Prohibition Act, involvement in illegal mining and transportation of sand, land-related matters and negligence in corruption cases. Disciplinary action has been taken against 644 officials.
The total number of gazetted officers against whom the government has initiated disciplinary proceedings and departmental proceedings is 38, including 2 IPS officers. It has been told in the notification that these 2 IPS officers have been given big punishment in departmental action.
