Indian women's boxers Nivedita Karki (48kg) and Tamanna (50kg) have made it to the finals of the Asian Youth and Junior Boxing Championships. Both the players have performed brilliantly in the ongoing championship at Amman in Jordan. At the same time, Renu (52kg) had to settle for a bronze medal due to the defeat in the semi-finals. Last time's silver medal winners Nivedita and Tamanna won in contrast in their semi-final bouts.

While Nivedita struggled to win 4-1 against Thailand's Ranrarit Gracy, Tamanna performed brilliantly and won an easy 5-0 win over Kazakhstan's Anita Adisheva. Renu has lost 0-5 to Munawwar Fogilova of Uzbekistan in another semi-final of the youth category.

The Indian women's boxer has secured medals in all the 12 weight categories while the men have secured 6 medals. As a result, the country's medal tally in the youth category has gone up to 18. In the junior category, India has secured a total of 21 medals. These include 12 medals in the girls' category and 9 in the boys' category. In the girls' junior semi-finals, last time champion Nikita Chand (60kg) defeated Jordan's Essel Mahmood in the first round on Tuesday night to make it to the final.

Supriya Devi Thokchom (54kg), Vidhi (57kg), Shrushti Sathe (63kg), Rudrarika (75kg) and Khushi Poonia (80kg) have also won their semi-final bouts. Let us tell you that Krishna Verma (70kg) was the only Indian who has suffered a defeat on Tuesday. She has also won a bronze medal. In the junior category, a total of 11 Indian girls have made it to the finals.
