The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) fired a projectile that appeared to be a ballistic missile on Wednesday morning, according to the Japanese government. The unidentified projectile is thought to have already landed, according to the Japan Coast Guard.
According to South Korea's Yonhap News Agency, which cited the South Korean military, it was launched into the Sea of Japan.
This was the country's first test-fire in 2022. In October 2021, the DPRK successfully test-fired a new type of submarine-launched ballistic missile.
