Tripura government will pay no compensation to families of COVID-19 victims after December 31

The families of people succumber to coronavirus will not get compensated in Tripura. Taking a U-turn on its earlier decision taken in May the Tripura government has now decided that people succumbing to the viral infection after December 31 will not be compensated at all.

According to the reports, the state government has recently issued guidelines regarding it. Earlier, the government announced that the families of those who succumbed to the virus would be provided with a one-time grant of Rs 10 lakh from the CM Relief Fund and SDRF amounting to Rs 6 lakh and Rs 4 lakh respectively.

The guidelines further stated that central government employees, except for health workers, will also not avail this one time grant. According to the guideline, any resident of Tripura, who dies outside the state will not be eligible for the compensation. Moreover, residents of other states succumbing to covid-19 in the state will also be not eligible for availing the compensation, the guidelines stated.
