HARYANA: Starting this Independence Day, Haryana schools will adopt a new way of greeting, replacing the usual "Good Morning" with "Jai Hind" as a daily salutation. This change is part of an initiative by the Haryana Directorate of School Education to instill a sense of patriotism and national pride among students. The directive requires school principals, headmasters, and education officers at district and block levels to enforce this new practice from August 15 onwards.

The state government believes that this shift will "foster a strong sense of patriotism and national pride" in students. The directive also highlights that the new greeting should be used before the national flag is hoisted on Independence Day.

The move aims to inspire students with a sense of national unity and reverence for India's rich cultural and historical legacy by incorporating "Jai Hind" into their daily routine.

The slogan "Jai Hind" was originally coined and popularized by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose when he formed the Azad Hind Fauj to challenge British rule. After India gained independence, the country's armed forces adopted the slogan as a greeting to symbolize their dedication to India's sovereignty and security.

By promoting "Jai Hind" in schools, the education department hopes that students will be motivated daily with a sense of national unity and respect for India's history. This practice is also seen as a way to encourage discipline and unity among students, reinforcing their identity as Indians and reminding them of their potential role in shaping the nation's future.
