New Delhi: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Friday asked officials of 122 cities including Delhi that if there is not enough parking space, registration of new vehicles can be cut. Also said that the public transport system should be upgraded. It may be known that air pollution is in serious condition in Delhi NCR. On the other hand, the bench of NGT headed by Justice AK Goel said that for environmental protection measures, it is necessary that the number of vehicles should be reduced to match the available space for parking in any city.

At the same time, it has been learned that the instructions of the bench should be followed not only in Delhi but also in all 122 cities, which do not meet the air quality norms. The bench said that all public places and roads cannot be converted into parking lots without any regulatory steps. On this aspect there is an agreement to make plans for following environmental regulations.

Parking should be allowed only at designated places. The bench instructed the constitutional authorities to take drastic steps in this direction. It is also being said that the NGT has asked the transport departments of all the states and union territories to assess the available parking capacity of 122 cities. Also, it is also said that in these cities, find adequate parking space for vehicles. If there are more vehicles than capacity, there should be an action plan for additional parking. If this is not possible, the number of registration of vehicles should be reduced.
