Customers will soon be required to have a valid pollution-under-control certificate in order to purchase fuel in Delhi. The city government will also put a draught policy in this regard in the public domain for inviting suggestions and objections.

The proposal, according to Environment Minister Gopal Rai, would assist to reduce vehicle pollution in Delhi. "Vehicle owners will need to transport their PUCC to the gas station. They will have to have the PUCC renewed at the pump if it is determined to be invalid "According to a statement

"This is a policy with a lot of promise. North India, particularly Delhi, suffers from severe air pollution, especially in the winter. Vehicles will be required to have their PUC certificate with them at the fueling station once this policy is introduced. As a result, the state's automobile pollution levels will be monitored from time to time.'' Moreover, the government intends to deploy a variety of technology-based measures in order to successfully execute the policy and guarantee that neither car owners nor gas pump owners are disturbed.

While details are currently unavailable, anticipate the government to implement technologies such as radio-frequency identification systems. To encourage the use of electric cars in the country, the Delhi government has released a proposed Motor Vehicle Aggregators Scheme, 2021. In a similar vein, the government recently announced the Delhi Electric Vehicles strategy, which seeks to increase electric car sales to 25% of total vehicle sales by 2024. This policy went into effect in August 2020, but it wasn't until October that the local administration initiated a large effort to examine PUC certificates, deploying about 500 workers at petrol stations to do so.
