No untoward incident should happen during immersion: Rachakonda CP Mahesh Bhagwat

Abdullapurmet: Rachakonda CP Mahesh Bhagwat inspected the arrangements made for Ganesh Visarjan at Byron Cheruvu on Tuesday. He advised the officials to prepare a route map. He also suggested that irrigation, revenue, panchayat and police officers should work in coordination. He also said that the officials should be alert and see that no untoward incident takes place during the immersion. The employees and local leaders were advised by the CP that the devotees coming for the immersion should not face any kind of trouble. Vanasthalipuram ACP Purushottam Reddy, Inspector Swamy, SI, Inanguda Sarpanch Yashoda and others were present.

The High Court had ordered a ban on the immersion of POP Ganesh idols in Hussain Sagar. A petition was filed in the Supreme Court by the Telangana government challenging the High Court order banning the immersion of POP Ganesh idols in Hussain Sagar. The matter will be heard today.

A High Court bench of Justices M S Ramachandra Rao and T Vinod Kumar banned the immersion of POP Ganesh idols in Hussain Sagar following a petition filed by advocate Mameedi Venumadhav. The High Court further said that the idols of POPs should be immersed in 25 artificial ponds developed by HMDA. The government urged the High Court to revise its decision, the High Court refused after which the government approached the Supreme Court.
