Haridwar: Yoga Guru Ramdev Suggested the third or higher children should be denied voting rights and other government services in order to  curb population growth.

While addressing to a press conference Sunday, Ramdev further opined that the country's population should not cross 150 crore in the next 50 years.

News agency PTI quoted Ramdev saying, "This is only possible if we enact legislation denying the voting right to the third or higher children of a parent. Such children should also be denied right to contest elections and other government services.”

The Yoga Guru further said that if such law is enacted then people will not give birth to more children, “no matter which religion they belong to”.

He also called for a complete ban on cow-slaughter, saying it would help contain the conflict between cow smugglers and "gau rakshak" (cow protectors).

"There should be a complete ban on cow slaughter and it is the only way out to end the conflict that we see between cow smugglers and 'gau rakshak'. For those who want to eat meat, there are several other types of meat which they can eat," he said, news agency ANI reported.

He also urged for a country-wide ban on liquor.
