Due to the snowfall, the cold has also engulfed the plains like Punjab, Haryana and Delhi. On Sunday morning, cold winds lashed the national capital and the mercury fell to 9.4 degrees Celsius.
According to information received from sources, mercury in Leh of Ladakh was recorded at 13.2 Celsius, which was the coldest night of this season. Similarly, mercury in Srinagar reached minus 0.9 degrees Celsius. Gulmarg minus 8 ° C was the coldest in the entire valley. Jammu recorded a minimum temperature of 8.2 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the mercury of Katra district in Jammu region was 7.8 degrees Celsius. After five days of snowfall, people got sunshine in the valley on Sunday. The 434 km long Srinagar-Leh National Highway has been closed since November 27 due to heavy snowfall. Efforts are on to restore traffic on this highway. Whereas, due to snow, the Mughal road has been closed since November 6 last month.
On the other hand, if we talk about the sources, then it is learned that the neighboring state of Himachal Pradesh is also getting cold. With minus 12.3 degrees Celsius, Lahaul Spiti was the coldest region in the hilly state. Mercury minus 3.4 in Kinnaur while mercury minus 1 degree Celsius was recorded in Manali. Amritsar district of Punjab recorded a minimum temperature of 7.8, while the maximum was recorded at 22.2 degrees Celsius. Muzaffarnagar was the coldest district in Uttar Pradesh. The minimum temperature in Lucknow was recorded at 13.1 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has warned of fog in Punjab and Haryana for the next two days.
