Nothing Phone 3a Pro Launch: Nothing has confirmed that its first smartphone of the year, the Phone 3a Pro, will launch globally on March 4. While the company has not officially shared many details about the phone, several leaks have given us a good idea of what to expect. But after looking at all the information available, it seems like this new device might not be as exciting as some had hoped. Here are five reasons why:
1) Special Design That May Not Appeal to Everyone
Nothing announced the design of the Phone 3a Pro, and it features a large camera ring with oddly placed camera sensors. The company has always focused on unique designs, but this time, it seems to have taken inspiration from OnePlus and even some budget phones like Infinix.
Design is a personal preference, but based on social media reactions, many people aren’t impressed with this new look.
2) A Processor That Feels Weak for the Price
Leaks suggest the Phone 3a Pro will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor. While it is not a bad chip, it does not seem powerful enough for the expected price range.
Other smartphones in the same segment, like the Poco X7 Pro (Dimensity 8400 Ultra), OnePlus Nord 4 (Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3), and Vivo T3 Ultra (Dimensity 9200+), offer much better performance. In comparison, the Phone 3a Pro might feel a bit underwhelming.
3) Battery Could Have Been Bigger
Rumors say the Phone 3a Pro will have a 5,000mAh battery with 50W fast charging. While this is decent, some brands are now offering much larger batteries. Some even going up to 7,000mAh or more.
If the Phone 3a Pro is priced at around Rs.27,999 like its predecessor, it will compete with devices like the Poco X7 Pro (6,400mAh) and Realme 14 Pro+ (6,000mAh), both of which offer better battery life.
4) Camera Upgrade: More Hype Than Reality?
Nothing is promoting the new telephoto lens as a big upgrade, but camera quality isn’t just about high megapixels. It is about how well the brand optimizes the hardware.
In the past, Nothing’s phones have been known as for not making the most of their camera sensors. So, while the Phone 3a Pro is rumored to have a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide lens, it remains to be seen how good the actual photos will be.
5) Water Resistance Is not Great
However, leaks suggest the Phone 3a Pro will have an IP64 rating. In simple terms, this means it can handle light splashes but isn’t designed to survive being submerged in water.
For a phone in this price range, better water resistance would have been a nice addition.
While the Nothing Phone 3a Pro has some interesting features, it also has a few drawbacks that could make buyers think twice. With strong competition from brands like OnePlus, Poco, and Realme, Nothing will need to offer something special to win over customers.
