"A CBI team raided my home in Chennai and my official residence in Delhi this morning. The team showed me a police report in which I am not listed as a suspect. Nothing was found or seized by the search crew. I'd like to point out that the search's timing is intriguing "Congressman P Chidambaram sent out a tweet. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at nine sites on Tuesday to investigate claims that he received "illegal payment" of Rs 50 lakh for facilitating visas for Chinese citizens to work in a project in Punjab.

The raids took place in Chennai, notably at Karti's father, former Union Minister P Chidambaram's huge mansion in posh Nungambakkam, Mumbai, Odisha, Karnataka, and Punjab.

"I have lost count, how many times has it been?" tweeted Karti, who is believed to be out of the country. It has to be a record." Karti, a Lok Sabha MP from Sivaganga, was detained by the CBI on his return from an overseas trip in February 2018 in connection with the INX money laundering case.
