Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Food Department is going to launch a new scheme soon. Under this, ration card holders in Uttarakhand will now be able to avail benefits on the lines of ATMs. Talking to reporters, Food Supplies Minister Rekha Arya said that preparations are being made to start food grain ATMs. So that, very easily the ration card holders will be able to take the grain. She said that this kind of beginning has been made in states like Orissa and Haryana. Now, food grain ATMs are going to be started in the State of Uttarakhand also.
The Food Supply Department is preparing a plan to start this scheme as the first park pilot project. For this, a ration card will be made on the lines of an ATM card. Just as we withdraw money from the BANKS' ATMs at the time of need, in the same way, we will also be able to get food grains from this machine in Uttarakhand.
The Food Minister said, "Food Grain ATMs are being started in the state under the World Food Scheme. Permission in this regard has also been obtained. At present, the scheme of Food Grain ATMs is running only in the state of Orissa and Haryana. Uttarakhand will be the third state in the country to implement this scheme.'' The minister said, "There will be a screen on it like an ATM machine. This system will work just like an ATM machine. The machine will be connected to large grain store drums. The ration card holder has to thumbs up at the given place by coming here. In this machine, the cash amount of the price of food grains has to be deposited online. Then, you have to put your pouch on a hole made in the machine. The grain will come out of the machine in the stipulated time. With this machine, the cardholder will be able to get wheat, rice and pulses.'' At present, the scheme is being launched under a pilot project. The scheme will be launched by the end of June.
