Shimla: District Municipal Corporation will now be formed in the cities with 40 thousand population. Earlier, there was a provision to make form DMCs in the districts with a population of 50 thousand. On Wednesday, the Urban Development Minister has placed an amendment bill of the Municipal Corporation Act 1994 on the assembly table. It will be passed after the negotiations. Himachal currently has two municipal corporations, one in Shimla and the other one in Dharamshala. The government is planning to create four more municipal corporations.

There id demand to make Solan, Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh, Mandi and Palampur as the municipal corporation. The population of these districts is less than 50 thousand. In such a situation, the government has decided to amend the policies to create a municipal corporation. Solan and Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh fulfil the criterion for being made Municipal Corporation. It has a population of 40 thousand. Areas are being adjusted to increase the population of other districts. 

On the other hand, six more people died of corona in the state, while 288 new patients have been reported. On Wednesday, 1 patient died from Solan district, 3 died in Kangra-Sirmour-Una each. The patient suffering from coronavirus who came for treatment from Paonta Sahib at IGMC succumbed to death. The patient was referred to IGMC due to pneumonia and difficulty in breathing. A patient from solan also died in IGMC. Apart from this, 2 more people died in Solan. In these, a pregnant woman died in Parwanoo, who was from Bihar. Apart from this, a 45-year-old patient died in Nalagarh.
