Lucknow: Now in Uttar Pradesh, no person will be able to protest by placing a dead body on the road. In fact, the state home department has prepared a standard operating procedure, under which protesting by placing dead bodies on the road has been kept as a punishable offence. The Home Department has prepared its draft and it will be presented soon. In fact, after the Hathras incident, the victim's family had demonstrated by keeping the dead body, after which the High Court made a strong remark. The state government has made this rule after the direction of the court.

According to the SoP prepared by the Home Department of UP, as soon as the body is handed over to the relatives after written consent will be taken from them that they will take the body directly from the post-mortem house to the house. If any crowd gathered on the way or the road was blocked, strict action would be taken against such people. Along with this, there is also a guideline in this SoP that the dead body will be handed over to the family members for the last rites. But, if the family refuses to take the dead body or due to any other reasons, the condition of the dead body gets spoiled, then efforts will be made to convince the relatives. If the family does not agree, then a group of 5 eminent persons will be formed and one person from the community of the deceased will also be included after that a panchnama will be made.

Along with this, if someone is cremated at night, then first permission will have to be taken from the administration. During this, videography of the funeral will be done and this videography will be kept safe for one year. The last rites can be performed only after following all these guidelines.

Let us inform you that, after the Hathras incident, the High Court had commented that the right to a dignified life remains intact even after the death of the person. Let us tell you that there are many such cases in which if the family members are not satisfied with the investigation or police action, then the last rites of the dead body are performed very late or they protest by keeping the dead body on the road. In view of these incidents, the government has made such a rule.
