A Standing Committee on Agricultural Cases has recommended to the Central Government to start a scheme to purchase cow dung from farmers. In this report presented in the Lok Sabha, the Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh government's Gordhan Nyaya Yojana has also been mentioned. Under the Gordhan Nyaya Yojana, the Congress Government buys cow dung from farmers at a fixed price.

Acting on the demands of grants from the Ministry of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare for 2021-22, the report said, 'The committee believes that the purchase of cow dung directly from the farmers will not only increase their income but employment opportunities. Will also grow. Also, the problem of holiday animals will also be solved and it will be easier to promote organic farming in the country.'

What is stated in the recommendation?: It has been learned that the committee may recommend to the farmers to start a scheme for the purchase of cattle dung in coordination with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying. Referring to the Chhattisgarh scheme, it has been told that the state buys 2 rupees per kg. After processing it in vermicompost, we sell it back at Rs 8 per kg. Prior to these recommendations, a committee headed by BJP MP Parvat Gowda Chandanagowda Gaddigowder asked the officials of the Ministry of Agriculture to initiate a scheme to buy cow dung from farmers.

At the same time, it is being said that a large amount of money surrendered by the Ministry of Agriculture has been pointed out, which is 'adversely affecting the implementation' of the schemes. The committee noticed that the department has surrendered an amount of Rs 34,517.70 crore and Rs 17,849.89 crore (provisional) between the year 2019-20 and the year 2020-21 respectively. Such a large amount of money can adversely affect the implementation of the schemes.
