New Delhi: The first hydrogen-based fuel cell electric vehicle has been launched in India. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has launched the Toyota Mirai. It runs on green hydrogen-based fuels. With this, the Toyota Mirai can run up to 650 km in a single charge. That is, after taking this car, you will not have the hassle of filling petrol-diesel again and again.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said that it is completely eco-friendly, which emits water instead of smoke from tailpipes. Toyota Kirloskar Motor claimed that the Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell is powered by battery packs and can be recharged in five minutes. It is able to provide distances of up to 650 kilometres on a single charge.

The Union Minister further said that green hydrogen can be produced from renewable energy and abundant biomass present. He said that the introduction and adoption of technology to harness the potential of green hydrogen can provide clean and affordable energy for the country. Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Power Minister RK Singh and Heavy Industries Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey were also present on the occasion.
