New Delhi: Like the vehicles in the capital of the country, now the owners of horse, mare and horse buggy will soon have to get third party insurance to operate. The Standing Committee of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has given its green signal to this amendment policy on Wednesday. Officials of the other two municipal bodies also said that they can implement this rule in their own place soon.

This step of SDMC comes after the directions issued by the Urban Development Department of Delhi Government in December last year. In fact, the local court, while hearing the case of the death of a person after being hit by a speeding horse, had requested to insure them. This amendment will be placed in the SDMC house meeting on Thursday where it is likely to get the green signal.
