Kolkata: The Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal had launched unique schemes like Duare Sarkar (government at the door of the house) and Duare ration (food at the door of the house) to ensure door-to-door delivery of government projects and rations. On similar lines, the Mamata government is now considering developing an e-retail system of liquor, so that liquor can be delivered to households.

However, the opposition has made a mockery of the new proposal in the form of Duare Twists (liquor on the door). Let us know that the Mamata Banerjee-led government in West Bengal, under the Duare government, takes government schemes from house to house and resolves their grievances. In this case, Mamata Banerjee's government has managed to reach crores of homes from the Duare government.

According to the state excise department, the process of e-retailing of liquor system began in August last year, when the West Bengal State Drinking Corporation (BEVCO) invited applications for interested companies and accordingly several companies applied with a guaranteed amount of Rs 25,000. BEVCO also had a condition that alcohol should be supplied only to customers above the age of 18.
