NSA Ajit Doval Leads Indian Delegation at 4th BIMSTEC Security Chiefs Meeting in Naypyidaw

Naypyidaw: National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval is leading the Indian delegation at the 4th annual meeting of the security chiefs from the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) held in Myanmar's capital on Friday, July 26.

The meeting brings together security leaders from BIMSTEC member countries to discuss and coordinate strategies to tackle shared security challenges. The primary goal is to enhance cooperation and develop initiatives to address these common threats.

The Indian Embassy in Myanmar confirmed Doval’s participation through a post on X, stating, “NSA Shri Ajit Doval is leading the Indian delegation at the 4th Annual Meeting of BIMSTEC Security Chiefs being held in Naypyidaw today.”

Prior to the meeting, Doval engaged in discussions with Myanmar's security officials, including Admiral Moe Aung. He, along with other BIMSTEC security chiefs, also had a meeting with Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

Doval arrived in Naypyidaw on Thursday after attending the state funeral of Nguyen Phu Trong, the general secretary of Vietnam’s ruling Communist Party, in Hanoi. He extended India's condolences to Vietnam’s leadership during the visit.

BIMSTEC is a regional organization designed to promote economic growth, trade, and cooperation among countries surrounding the Bay of Bengal. Its focus areas include transportation, energy, and counter-terrorism efforts. The member states are Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
