NSE Nifty hits record high, Banking and metal stocks bullish

The Indian stock market rose in line with the Asian indices. The Nifty50 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) hit an intraday high level of 15,455 on Friday morning session. Healthy buying was witnessed in metal, finance and banking stocks. Today is also the first day of trading for the new Future and Option (F&O) series and Indian markets are likely to move in tandem with global markets.

Around 11.30 a.m., Nifty was trading at 15,429, higher by 90 points from its previous close 15,337.85 points while the BSE Sensex was trading at 51,383, higher by 267 points from its previous close of 51,115.22. The top gainers on the Sensex were Reliance Industries, Tata Steel and ONGC, while the major losers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Dr Reddy's Laboratories and Nestle India.

Mahindra and Mahindra dives 2 percent ahead of March 2021 quarterly result. Hindalco and Grasim were the other top Nifty gainers in trade. Pharma stocks were exhibiting weakness with Cipla, Sun Pharma and Dr Reddy's among the early losers.  Nifty Metal stocks rose 1.5 percent higher in trade. Nifty Pharma stocks slipped 1 percent. Out of 50 stocks traded on the NSE, 27 advanced and 23 declined.
