Thiruvananthapuram: In view of the closure of the school due to corona infection, the number of online classes started by the Kerala government from June 1 has crossed 1 thousand. It was initiated by the Education Department through infrastructure and technology for education in the state, which was named as 'First Bell' as an interim plan. The teachers of the classes and the headteachers or principals of the school have to ensure that the students have a TV, smartphone or computer and internet to join the classes.
If it is not, then they need to find an option for students to be present in real-time or later. Sessions on the Victors Channel are simultaneously available on the Kitt Victors website, mobile apps, and internet pages. Under the First Bell event, apart from 274 Kannada medium classes and 163 Tamil medium classes, 604 classes were aired through the Kite Victors channel, which was broadcast through local cable network in the state.
The education department had identified more than 2 lakh students who lacked facilities for online classes and suggested options including neighbors' TV or Internet facilities, nearby friends, library, or renewable centers. KIT's Chief Executive Officer, K Anwar Sadath, has told that this issue has been resolved on a large scale through sponsors and common facilities. He said that many good organizations are still offering help to needy students.
