New Delhi: Nurses of various hospitals run by Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal government have started a strike today (November 2) over various demands, including regularisation of their services and long-pending promotions. The Delhi Nurses Federation (DNF) said it was a "symbolic strike", which will be held from 9 am to 11 am between November 2 and 4.

DNF general secretary Leeladhar Ramchandani has said that, however, emergency and ICU services will not be affected by this strike, as some nurses will work for both these services. OPD services and wards will be affected due to the strike of nursing staff that started from Wednesday (November 2). He told that all the big government hospitals run by the Delhi government have joined the strike announced by the DNF.

Ramchandani said that other government hospitals of Delhi like LNJP Hospital, GB Pant Hospital, DDU Hospital, GTB Hospital, BSA Hospital, Dr Hedgewar Hospital and SGM Hospital have also joined the strike. He told that there are 8,000 sanctioned posts of nurses in Delhi, but only 6,000 nurses are working. Ramchandani claimed that 'Three new hospitals have been prepared and employees of other government hospitals have been sent there. Beds have been increased, but the number of nursing staff has not been increased.'
