On the occasion of 86th Odisha Police Foundation Day and Utkal Diwas on April-1, Angul Police has started “pink patrol” in Angul town.

Pink patrol is a patrolling system with aim of ensuring women safety. Vulnerable areas in Angul town are identified. Four patrolling teams are formed. Each patrolling team consists of two lady police personnel and two gents police personnel. Each patrolling team is having a motorcycle and a scooty.

Odisha police has made remarkable feats in curbing crime and Maoist activities in the State, said Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay. Addressing a function on the occasion of 86th police foundation day, he said efforts of Odisha police in tackling Maoist violence are admirable. Odisha police has worked tremendously in the rescue of missing children. Police are working tirelessly to prevent women and child exploitation, he added.

On the occasion, the DGP paid tributes to the police martyrs and Covid warriors.
Addressing the ceremony, Twin City police Commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi said that Commissionerate Police is committed to provide better service to the people and ensure safety and security of their lives and properties in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

On the occasion, 10 officers were conferred with DGP’s Disc for their outstanding contribution to the society. Also, 13 Corona martyrs were conferred with DGP’s Disc posthumously.
