The Odisha Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has approved a proposal to provide 10% reservation and physical test exemptions for ex-Agniveers in various uniformed services. This includes police, forest, excise, fire services, and other roles as determined by the state government.

The decision is aimed at offering greater job opportunities for ex-Agniveers in Group C and D posts within the state's uniformed services. These benefits will be granted to ex-Agniveers who meet the necessary qualifications outlined in the recruitment rules, along with a three-year age relaxation in the upper age limit.

In addition to this, the Odisha government has approved the transfer of equity shares to Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) from Shapoorji Pallonji Port Maintenance Pvt Ltd and Odisha Stevedores Ltd. This move will give Adani Ports a 95% stake in Gopalpur Port, with the remaining 5% retained by Odisha Stevedores.

The expansion of Gopalpur Port, which currently handles bulk cargo like iron ore, coal, and limestone, is expected to boost revenue and employment opportunities. At present, the port handles 11.43 million metric tonnes of cargo annually and contributes 7.5% of its revenue to the state government, amounting to approximately ₹38 crore for the fiscal year 2023-24.

Another significant decision by the cabinet was the approval of jobs for unmarried daughters and stepdaughters of deceased government employees under the compassionate appointment scheme.
