Odisha Assembly passes University of Health Sciences Bill 2021 amid Uproar

Odisha:Amid uproar by the opposition BJP and the Congress over two different issues, the Odisha Legislative Assembly has passed 3 significant Bills including the Odisha University of Health Sciences Bill, 2021.

Health Minister Naba Kishore Das said a number of medical and paramedical institutions of the state have been affiliated to different universities of the state for grant of degree or diploma or training certificates. The state government would now bring them under the University of Health Sciences. He said, the universities to which the medical and paramedical institutions are affiliated at present are general universities that do not specialize in the study of medical sciences. He added that  "It was the dream of chief minister Naveen Patnaik to have a health university in Odisha."

The health minister said that all the health examinations will now be conducted through this university from now onwards. The latest technology will be introduced through this university in Odisha. The minister added the state government has asked the university to reserve some beds for children so that they can get good treatment. The government has already issued SOPs to all the district magistrates and medical colleges, he said.
