Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is preparing to host the Odisha Open 2022 international badminton tournament from January 25 to 30, which will feature over 300 players from 18 countries competing for top honours. The Odisha Open 2022 will be a BWF Super 100 tournament held at Cuttack's Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium.
The Odisha Open, on the other hand, would be held behind closed doors, with no spectators and strict adherence to the State Government's and Badminton World Federation's Covid-19 principles and norms (BWF).
Odisha is hosting this event for the first time, and we are all working together to guarantee a safe and secure atmosphere for participants to compete in their games. The Sports and Youth Services Department is collaborating with the Badminton Association of India and the Odisha State Badminton Association to ensure that the tournament adheres to BWF standards and runs efficiently, with the safety of the players taking precedence. Protocols for Covid-19 have also been defined. We are looking forward to welcome all of the players and officials and wish them a pleasant stay in Odisha as well as good luck in their competition "Tusharkanti Behera, the Odisha Sports Minister, stated.
"The Odisha State Government, led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, has always made considerable efforts to encourage sports in a variety of disciplines, including badminton. Hosting the Odisha Open for the first time is another step in encouraging more athletes from around the state to pursue careers in sports.
