In a effort to provide healthcare services at the doorstep of the people in line with the motto of the State Government, bike ambulance facility for the hard-to-reach areas was launched today from the premises of District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Sundargarh, Odisha. Flagging off the ambitious project, Sundargarh Collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan told media, “There is a programme under the OMBADC fund to provide bike ambulance to the hard to reach areas, like pockets having kuchcha road, where ambulance passage faces problems due to small geographical barriers. Today, we launched nine such bike ambulances. We’re trying to provide medical services directly to the people. Today’s launch is an edition in that direction.”
The Collector added, “We have identified the drivers of these bike ambulances. Not only the bike ambulance, but also everything is included in the project. Hopefully, this will be beneficial.” Collector informed media persons that still now there has been no major issue of ambulance unable to reach any area. But, the government is proactively trying to understand the hard-to- reach pockets as per the list provided by the BDOs and today’s project has been launched initially.
The collector further added that there is no deficit of funds hence they are increasing the number of these bike ambulances. The nine bikes launched in first phase will work, after receiving the feedback the government will extend the services to other hard to reach areas. “Every project we’re starting in a properly planned manner. After receiving feedback, we are scaling up as per the need,” informed the District Collector.
