Iran: The European Union announced on Tuesday that it was examining Iran's response to a "final" draft agreement presented at talks in Vienna to revive the 2015 nuclear deal with major powers.

The United States had already said on Monday that it would communicate its response to the text presented by Josep Borrell to the EU's foreign policy chief on August 8.

The prospect of a deal that could result in the lifting of US sanctions on Iran's 2.5 million barrels of daily oil production contributed to a collapse in global market prices, with US oil futures falling nearly 3% below US$90. is closed. Barrel.

The Iranian response, according to a spokesman for Borrell, who held talks to bring the US and Iran back to the deal, was received late on Monday.

The spokesperson referred to the nuclear deal by its official name, the JCPOA, and said, "We are studying it and consulting with the US and other JCPOA participants on next steps."

According to an earlier report by Iran's official IRNA news agency, a deal will be reached if the United States responds to Iran's response "with realism and flexibility".

According to IRNA, Iran may agree to a "final" text created by the European Union to salvage the deal, which aims to limit Iran's nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions.

Since the United States withdrew in 2018 under then-President Donald Trump, whose administration reimposed severe sanctions, the agreement has been dormant.

According to IRNA, an unnamed Iranian diplomat said that "EU proposals are acceptable provided they provide assurances to Iran on various points related to sanctions and security measures, in addition to opening IAEA affairs".

In early August, after a long pause, negotiations on a nuclear deal resumed by Britain, China, France, Germany, Iran and Russia, as well as indirectly by the United States.

Negotiations to revive the so-called JCPOA coordinated by the European Union began in April 2021 but stalled in March.

Last Tuesday, the European Union said it expected Tehran and Washington to respond "very quickly" to a "final" text aimed at salvaging the deal.
After extensive talks, Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdullahian said that "what matters to us is verification" that the sanctions have indeed been lifted.

A US State Department spokesman dismissed the alleged demands that were outside the parameters of the talks and said it was up to Iran to reach a final deal.

"We believe that what could have been negotiated has been negotiated, and we stand ready to effect a reciprocal return to compliance with the JCPOA," Price said.
