Lucknow: Ola-Uber and cab drivers will not take bookings today on demand for fare hike with the price of CNG and petrol and diesel rising in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow. They will stage a sit-in demonstration in support of the demands at Smriti Upvan. R K Pandey, president of the Cab Owners' Drivers Welfare Committee, said that on Monday, cab drivers will gather at the dharna site and protest and on Tuesday, the Transportnagar and RTO offices will be cordoned off.
In fact, a large number of app-based taxis are operating in the city. These include other cab companies along with Ola-Uber. Taxi companies have increased the fare bookings by seven per cent. The benefits of this are not being given to taxi drivers, owners. In such a situation, from Monday, the fare of cab taxis is Rs 25 per km instead of Rs 20. The cab drivers are going on strike on the demand.

Various unions have been demanding a hike in rent rates and a reduction in the price of CNG. Hundreds of auto, taxi and cab drivers had recently protested at the Delhi Secretariat demanding subsidy on CNG prices.
