Guwahati: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is scheduled to inaugurate the new building of the Assam Legislative Assembly on July 30, in the presence of state Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. The inauguration ceremony will be attended by all existing and former Parliamentarians, members of the Assam Legislative Assembly, and other invited dignitaries.
Numal Momin, the Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly said, the new building will boast new features, and plans are in place to implement e-Vidhan, making it a modern assembly in Assam for the first time. The next assembly session will also take place in this new building.
Momin clarified that the construction of the new building began during the Congress regime and has been slightly redesigned. However, the current government has expedited the project, and the inauguration will take place as planned on July 30.
It can be assumed that, of course, the new Assam Legislative Assembly building stands as a magnificent symbol of progress and democracy in the heart of the state. Its awe-inspiring architecture blends modernity with elements that pay homage to Assam's rich cultural heritage. The building's striking design, featuring a harmonious amalgamation of glass, steel, and locally sourced materials, reflects the state's vision for a vibrant and inclusive future.
