Kolkata: A Trident pierced the neck of a young man from Kalyani in the Nadia district of West Bengal. The bleeding youth was rushed to NRS Hospital in Kolkata in critical condition in the early hours of Monday. Reports say that the young man is 33 years old. After being brought to the hospital, he was immediately admitted to the ENT emergency department. The surgery lasted about 1 hour. In this regard, the hospital says that the operation was successful. That person is currently without any support system. However, how the trident entered the neck is yet to be ascertained. Dr. Pranavasish Bandyopadhyay of NRS Hospital has said, ''If Trident had gone a few centimeters here and there, he could have died. It is a miracle that he survived even after the trident was pierced through his neck!''

According to the information received from the hospital, it was 3 o'clock in the morning. A youth, who was in the emergency department of Kolkata's Nilaratan Sarkar Medical College (NRS), came in a pool of blood. The trident had crept into his neck. A pointed trident rod was visible at the back of the neck and the pointed part of the trident, one arm long, was in front. The whole face is soaked in blood. There was continuous bleeding from the throat. The clothes were wet with blood. The doctor in charge immediately took the youth to the ENT department (NRS Medical College Hospital) and started preliminary tests on the injured organ. This information was conveyed to the surgeons of Neel Ratan Sarkar Medical College and Hospital.

Health workers were shocked to see the patient's condition. The trident has crossed the young man's neck. Seeing the condition of the young man, the experienced doctors were informed. After this, he underwent surgery for about an hour and it was successful. The doctor also said that many important organs including the trachea and carotid gland are said to be at that place. He has also said that the surgery was done very carefully. Tracheostomy surgery is performed in a 'push and pull' procedure. The surgery has been led by Dr. Pranamishi Banerjee. He was accompanied by Dr. Sutirtha Saha, Arpita Mahanty, and Dr. Nadeem. Apart from this, Dr Madhurima Roy was present during the surgery.
