Mumbai: In a shocking incident, a foreign woman was allegedly molested in Maharashtra's Mumbai city. It is alleged that the cab driver masturbated in front of the woman in the moving vehicle. DN Nagar police have registered a case and arrested the culprit. An investigation has also been initiated into the matter. The incident was reported in Andheri (West) area last Saturday. In fact, the 40-year-old American businesswoman came to India a month ago for work and has been living in Mumbai since then. The woman had gone out of Mumbai for some work with her colleagues.  

On Saturday, the victim and her accomplices were returning to Mumbai in a private cab after finishing work. The American woman sat in the front seat on the driver's side. One by one, her companions got down at their destinations. Now only foreign women and drivers were in the cab. The woman was supposed to land in Andheri (West). Meanwhile, the woman saw that after driving some distance, the driver started masturbating in the car itself. Seeing this, the woman asked him to stop the vehicle on JP Road. She screamed for help on the street. Seeing the woman's screams, some people rushed towards her. The driver, Yogendra Upadhyay (40), left the taxi and fled.  

Due to this, a person present there informed the local DN Nagar police about the incident. The police, who swung into action, arrested taxi driver Yogendra Upadhyay within an hour. Subsequently, the culprit cab driver was detained and taken to the police station. The DN Nagar police registered a case against the culprit on the victim's complaint. The culprit has been identified as Yogendra Upadhyay (40), a resident of Goregaon. He has no old criminal record registered against him. The police registered a case against the driver under sections 354A (sexual harassment) and 509 (word, gesture, or other means insulting the modesty of a woman) of the IPC and produced him in the court, where the court sent him to 2-day police custody. Under  Section 509, there is a provision of imprisonment of 3 years or a fine or both. Under Section 354A, a convict can be sentenced to imprisonment up to two years or a fine or both.
