Omicron cases in India: Maharashtra has highest number, Delhi adds another

The total cases of omicron variant of corona infection in India have increased to 33. Maharashtra has the highest number of patients infected with this new variant of infection. According to local officials, cases of new coronavirus variants have also been reported by Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Karnataka. According to the Government of Maharashtra, 17 cases of omicron have been reported in the state so far, out of which seven patients have been discharged from the hospital after recovering from the corona. Meanwhile, health officials said on Saturday that a 1.5-year-old girl who was infected with omicron in Pimpri Chinchwad area of Pune district of Maharashtra has been discharged from the hospital after recovering. One of the four new patients in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) area is a three-year-old boy who has been infected by the new variant. He is currently asymptomatic and healthy. Two men and one woman are among the three other patients. The three men came under the contact of a woman of Indian origin and her two daughters from Nigeria. The woman was found infected with the Omicron variant.

The 35-year-old, who travelled to Zimbabwe and South Africa, was found infected with the Omicron variant when he arrived in India. Thus, the second case of the Omicron variant came to light in Delhi on Saturday. The man comes from Andhra Pradesh and was admitted to LNJP Hospital in the capital on December 5. The fully vaccinated patient has complained of weakness. LNJP, designated for patients infected with the omicron variant of the corona, currently has 35 patients. As of Friday night, 31 patients were admitted to the hospital while four patients were brought there on Saturday.

In Rajasthan, 9 persons infected with the omicron variant of corona infection have been found negative and were discharged from the hospital on Friday. Seven of them were fully vaccinated. Four of the nine persons were from the same family and came from South Africa on November 25. Three cases of omicon variant have been reported in Jamnagar in Gujarat. In Karnataka, one of the two omicron patients has recovered and the other has left the country.
