The political atmosphere in Maharashtra is hot before the assembly elections. The alliance of opposition parties, known as India Alliance, is fiercely targeting the Mahayuti government of the state. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (Uttar Pradesh) chief Uddhav Thackeray has given a big statement, in which he has questioned the actions of central agencies.
Uddhav Thackeray recently referred to the raids being conducted by ED (Enforcement Directorate) and CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) in the country. He said that these raids are being conducted only on opposition leaders. Giving an example, Thackeray said that his father, Balasaheb Thackeray, had strongly criticized Rajiv Gandhi, but at that time, no Shiv Sainik's house was raided by ED, CBI, or Income Tax Department. He stressed that leaders never took action against each other out of revenge.
Uddhav Thackeray made this statement at the 'Sadbhavna Diwas' program organized on the occasion of Rajiv Gandhi's 80th birth anniversary. In this program, Thackeray targeted the BJP by referring to the relationship between Balasaheb Thackeray and Rajiv Gandhi. He said that even when Bal Thackeray criticized the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Shiv Sena leaders were not harassed by any central agency. This comment was a strong attack on the current political situation, where opposition leaders are constantly being raided by central agencies.
Uddhav Thackeray also wore a Congress badge at the event, which is an important sign after he left the BJP and joined hands with the Congress in 2019. This was the first time Thackeray attended a Congress event and wore the Congress symbol. NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar and Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge were also present on the occasion.
Sharad Pawar also attacked the BJP fiercely in the Sadbhavna Diwas program. He said that it is unfortunate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a feeling of revenge towards the Nehru-Gandhi family. He stressed that the contribution made by Jawaharlal Nehru and his family to the country cannot be erased from history. Sharad Pawar also stressed that four generations of this family have worked hard for the country, and this contribution cannot be forgotten. It is clear from this entire incident that the political temperature in Maharashtra is rising, and these issues can play a major role in the upcoming assembly elections. The statements of Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar reflect the strategy of a united opposition against the BJP, which can become a big issue in the elections.
