Patna: Congress veteran and former CM Siddaramaiah will take oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka tomorrow i.e. on 20th May, after winning a landslide victory in Karnataka and ending the ongoing tussle over the post of CM. At the same time, DK Shivakumar will take oath as Deputy Chief Minister. The swearing-in ceremony of the Karnataka CM before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections is also being seen as a show of strength by the unity of the opposition parties to remove the BJP from power at the Centre. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister of Karnataka.
Talking to the media in Darbhanga on Friday (May 19), Bihar CM Nitish Kumar said that the campaign he is engaged in should start with the Karnataka elections when asked questions about going to the Karnataka CM's swearing-in ceremony. His indication was about the unity of the opposition parties before the 2024 general elections.
When CM Nitish was asked how important is the Karnataka election? In response to this, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said, It is very important, how tremendous the victory of the Congress has been." We already had contact with the one who became the Chief Minister, he also said that then the National President of the Congress Party (Mallikarjun Kharge) said – come. So we said yesterday that come...''
Do you believe that the launch of the campaign that you have started has been better? When asked, Nitish Kumar nodded in 'yes' and said, "He (opposition leader) will not come, we are engaged in this." When all that is done, then you will tell the people." On the question of opposition unity, CM Nitish said, "If the rest of the opposition parties unite then it will be in the interest of the country. Continuous efforts are being made for that."
