Nashik: Special displeasure was seen among tomato farmers today in Krishi Upaj Mandi of Nashik, Maharashtra. Farmers protested when tomato was quoted at Rs 1 per kg in the mandi. Farmers bring tomatoes in nets to the market. 20 kg tomatoes come in this mesh. This means farmers get Rs 20 per net. When the farmers saw this, they lodged a protest by throwing tomatoes on the road.

The same 20 rupees, according to the forgery, the farmers had to face a huge loss. In this price, the cost of bringing tomatoes from the farm to the market is not even covered. In the mandi, traders first bid Rs 3 per kg for tomatoes. Thereafter, he bid Rs.2/kg and later again bid Rs.1/kg. Seeing this, the farmers got upset and threw the tomatoes on the road to sell them in the market. 

In fact, in such cases, the employees of the agricultural produce market are present there so that the farmers are not harmed, but according to the farmers, when they reached the market with tomatoes, no one was present there. Seeing this, the displeasure of the farmers increased further. Seeing this, the farmers threw tomatoes on the road and also blocked the gate of the market. Farmers said that neither the wages of tomatoes sown in one acre could be recovered at Re 1 kg, nor the cost of transport to take tomatoes back would have been recovered. So he threw the tomatoes on the road.
