Raipur: A group of 18 elephants from Bhauta Beet of Marwahi Forest Range in Chhattisgarh, crossing the border late on Friday night, have reached Room No. RF 475 of Tanki Beet in Kotma Forest Range in Anuppur district, bordering Madhya Pradesh. This group of elephants roamed all night in Chaukitola, Bahrijodkhi, Panahigura and Baigantola on Saturday morning via the Doomarakchhar forest area of Jhirianala and came back to the temporary residence in Panahigura Room No. RF 474 which is there till Saturday evening.

On getting information about the arrival of a group of elephants, there is an atmosphere of terror in the villagers, the farmer is upset. Farmers fear that the kharif grain stored in the barns and the rabi crop in the fields may damage the elephants. Forest Officer, MS Bhagadia, Deputy Forest Officer, Anuppur OG Goswami, instructed the officers and employees of the forest department to monitor the elephant group.

Along with this, reaching the rural areas, the villagers have been asked to stop going to the forest area and take caution. He has given strict instructions to keep a constant watch on the variance area of elephants from the forest staff, and said that the staff and the villagers themselves should not go near the elephants. It is said that the forest department has been informed about the presence of a radiocollar in the neck of a male elephant in a team of elephants, but the forest department has refused to join the group of such elephants in the preliminary information.
