Former Pak PM Nawaz Sharif's troubles increased, another case of corruption registered

Islamabad: The anti-corruption body of Pakistan has filed a corruption case in Lahore Accountability Court against former PM Nawaz Sharif, Jang / Jio Media Group owner Mir Shakeel ur Rahman, two others in a land-related case. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed the case after getting approval from its Chief Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal.

The other two suspects, in this case, are former Lahore Development Authority (LDA) director Humayun Faiz Rasul former director (land) Mian Bashir. The accountability court has sent notices to all the defendants for June 29. It is alleged that in 1986, when Sharif was the CM of Punjab, he violated the rules and allotted 54 kanals of land in Lahore to Mir Shakeel ur Rahman. Rahman was arrested by the NAB on March 12, after which he is on judicial remand.

Two Sharif LDA officials are accused of misusing the post to allot precious land near the canal to Rahman in violation of the rules. Sharif has not responded to any summons questions from the NAB, so the arrest warrant has been issued against him, the bureau has announced to approach the accountability court to declare him a declared criminal.
