Dehradun: After Holi, the BJP is likely to announce the name of the CM in Uttarakhand. On March 19, a meeting of the new BJP MLAs will be held in Dehradun, in which Dhan Singh Rawat and Satpal Maharaj are likely to be among the front-runners for the chief minister's post. According to political experts, the BJP may also consider the names of Ajay Bhatt and Anil Baluni. Bhatt is the minister of state for defence and tourism in the Modi government at the Centre, while Baluni heads the party's media cell in Uttarakhand.
In fact, in the 70-seat Uttarakhand Assembly, the BJP has won 47 seats to secure a clear majority, while no party has been able to make a comeback in the state for the second time in a row. However, with the defeat of the current chief minister's election, many names are now being discussed for the post in the party. According to Bharatiya Janata Party leaders of Uttarakhand, only one of the elected party MLAs will be made the CM. However, the central high command will send an observer to Dehradun after Holi to conduct a raishumri and announce the new name on the basis of the same.
On the one hand, the BJP won the election with a majority in Uttarakhand, on the other hand, the CM's candidate from Khatima, Pushkar Singh Dhami, lost the election. He was defeated by Congress candidate Bhuvan Kapri by about 6000 votes. The BJP may have created history by coming to power for the second time in a row in the state, but Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami failed to break the myth for which Uttarakhand is known. Indeed, there is a myth in the state that any leader who lives in the CM's residence is not able to complete his five-year term. Whether it is Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri, or Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Harish Rawat or Vijay Bahuguna, Tirath Singh Rawat, Trivendra Singh Rawat and Pushkar Singh Dhami, who has lost the election now.
