New Delhi: Onion prices are continuously increasing in all major cities of the country. There is no hope of getting relief soon. On Thursday, the maximum price of onion reached Rs 110 a kg. The average selling price of onion was Rs 70 per kg. This information has been obtained from government data.

Meanwhile, the Delhi government has requested the Center to restore onion supply to Delhi and ensure the availability of onion at the rate of Rs. 15.60 per kg instead of Rs. 60 per kg. Delhi's Food and Civil Supplies Minister Imran Hussain has said that it should not appear that the government is reaping the benefits of essential food items. Hussain blamed that the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Association of India (NAFED) has stopped the supply of onions.

According to the data of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, the lowest price of onion in the country is Rs 38 per kg in Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh. Traders say that there is no possibility of any fall in onion prices before December 15. In this situation, not only hoarding of onions is happening but prices are also increasing continuously. If steps are taken against this hoarding, onion prices can be very low.
