New Delhi: American company, which has its reach in the big market of online shopping, is now starting online sales of medicines in India. The company is going to start it first from Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. The company has announced in this regard only on Thursday 13 August.
According to reports, the company has announced the start of 'Amazon Pharmacy' in a statement. Under this, the company will also sell prescription-based and over-the-counter medicines, health equipment and indigenous herbal medicines. Presently, these drugs will be sold only in Bengaluru. After this, it will be gradually introduced in other areas of the country. This step of the company has come at a time when online drug sales have increased in the country. Especially due to the corona virus epidemic, people are avoiding going to the drugstores and buying medicines online.
Companies like One MG, Netmeds, MedLife and PharmEG are offering services in this sector to the customers who are purchasing medicines through online platforms. Due to the constant competition from e-commerce companies like Flipkart and Geomart in the country, Amazon has decided to enter this field so that the company can take advantage of its large customer base. The company had also started 10 new warehouses in India last month.
